The 2008 NZL Yachting Trust Youth Team was second on the Volvo Trophy for overall team performance improving on 2007 when they were third in the national ranking. This was the best team result at this event for New Zealand in six years. Both Sam Meech in the Laser class and Cushla Hume-Merry in the Laser Radial class made it on to the podium returning bronze medals for New Zealand, both in very tough classes. A further two top four finishes were achieved in the double-handed classes for Boys and Girls. Congratulations Sam and Cushla on a outstanding result.
